Our story

Leitmotif Press was first imagined on the picket lines of a Writer’s Guild strike—born from the creative restlessness of screenwriters wondering what would happen if the labor movement dragged on too long, and the collective realization that everyone had many more stories to tell, and in a multitude of formats. What began as daydreams between protest signs eventually became a fundamental idea: a publishing space run by writers, for writers; and a platform for non-writers who have their own unique stories to offer. Time passed, the strike ended, but the vision lingered, and before long, Leitmotif Press was
launched—anchored in the belief that unique perspectives can come from anywhere — and are needed now more than ever.

Today, Leitmotif Press releases distinctive books, podcasts, and original content for readers and listeners of all ages. We’re driven by creators who believe in meaningful narratives, honest insights, and unique points of view. Our guiding principle—our leitmotif—is simple: tell great stories and help others do the same.
