Author and screenwriter, Rita Cahill is also an international business consultant and partner in MakeBelieve Entertainment - a film development company where she serves as Executive Producer on a number of international projects.

With a strong background in marketing and public relations, Cahill has worked extensively with companies across the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Europe and Asia -specializing in visual effects and animation. Her client portfolio spans the feature film, television, VR and game industries, as well as government and educational organizations.

 Before launching her consulting business, Cahill served as Vice President of Marketing at Cinesite, where she led marketing efforts across four divisions of the pioneering digital studio. Prior to that, Cahill was a founding Board member of the Mill Valley Film Festival/California Film Institute and remains on the Institute’s Emeritus Board of Directors. Cahill was also the Founding Consultant on the formation and establishment of the Singapore International Film Festival.

 Cahill has been a longtime member of the Visual Effects Society (VES), serving on its global Board of Directors for ten years (2015-2020, 2022-2025) and as Board Secretary throughout that period. She also served as Chair or Co-Chair of the VES Summit for eight years. In 2021, in recognition of her contributions, Cahill was honored with the VES Lifetime Member distinction and the prestigious VES Founders Award.

Her debut novel, Lemuria: Hands Across Time, marks her first foray into long-from fiction.
